Healthcare support workers across Leicester’s three hospitals are taking industrial action over a fight for fair pay.
NHS staff at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General, and Glenfield Hospital have taken a stand against the Trust’s refusal to fairly compensate the healthcare assistants for their underpaid work and meet the UNISON’s demand of back pay covering the period to 2018.
Tuesday 7 May to Wednesday 8 May
The weather was on the side of our healthcare assistants as they headed out on strike again in their fight for fair pay. The general public are also on side as countless people honked their horns as they drove past the three picket lines across the city. Our strikers have also been bought food and drink to keep them going!

Our healthcare assistants are back out on strike for another 48 hours as their pay campaign continues. As you can see, they’re committed to winning the salary increase and back pay they’re owed!

We had all four seasons of weather on Monday, but come rain or shine, our members were on the picket line!
Thursday 11 April to Saturday 13 April
The Trust’s Chief Executive came to the picket line at Leicester Royal Infirmary to speak to the striking workers, who had no issues telling him exactly what they think to their current pay deal!
What a story to tell, our Chief Executive came to talk to HCAs on picket line. All staff gathered together to explain why we are not accepting hospital deals. All staff clearly said how unvalued they feel. We will not settle for less. We are still fighting 💜💪❤️@UNISONEastMids pic.twitter.com/cNIHP5qVVU
