East Midlands Regional Schools Project 2023

How we work

In February we will be launching a new organising project focused on growing our membership and building organisation in more than 250 schools across the region. This is an exciting project which we know will be a real success.

The project is being supported by the Branch Support and Organising Fund (BSOF) and will be delivered by a team of local organisers lead by one of our Regional Organisers, Emma Roberts.

Seven posts are advertised in total, all full time with two being permanent, two fixed term for 18 months and the rest fixed term for 12months.

The project opens great opportunities for existing members and activists who think they’ve got what it takes to work in a dynamic team helping to recruit new members, identify and develop next generation activists, and build a network of union ambassadors advocating and representing members. If this is you, or someone you know, we would like to support that interest.

We’re doing an online ‘familiarisation’ session when Emma and I will talk more about the role, what you can expect working as an organiser for UNISON, and the process of applying, with some helpful hints and tips along the way. The session will be being held on Friday, 6th January starting at 6pm lasting no more than 1hr.

If you, or someone you know, would like to come along please drop an email to me or Emma and we will send you the link by return.

We are also advertising the opportunities on our regional website and social media pages, please help us to amplify these by sharing, liking, and promoting.

Kind Regards,

Chris Jenkinson
Regional Secretary – East Midlands
