Locally elected reps will get paid time off to support union members
University of Nottingham Students’ Union (UoNSU) has officially recognised UNISON as the Trade Union to represent the interests of its staff team.
Locally elected reps will negotiate with UoNSU about pay and other working conditions, as well as representing UNISON members with individual issues such as disability, sickness or maternity leave. The agreement means locally elected reps will get paid time off to train and undertake their duties.
Daryl Ormerod, CEO of UoNSU, who signed the agreement on their behalf said: “I’m really very excited for what we can achieve together, working with UNISON, so that we can be and do better with and for our staff team, and ultimately for our student members.”
Vicki Morris, University of Nottingham branch Chair, who signed the agreement on behalf of UNISON said; “We are delighted to be recognised as the union for UoNSU career staff employees.
“We believe our shared values will lead to a constructive relationship that will benefit both the Students’ Union and its staff. We are looking forward to sharing the many benefits of being a member of UNISON and the extent of the work we do locally, nationally and internationally.”
