ERA RE-ACCREDITATION COURSE FOR STEWARDS

REGIONAL ONLINE COURSES

This online course is for existing ERA accredited stewards who require their 5-yearly re-accreditation.

Course aims
· To update reps on new developments internally and externally which impact upon their rep role.
· To inform reps on changes in the legislative and legal framework which affect our role in representation and organising at local level.
· To share skills and experience to further develop participants approaches as UNISON reps.
· To explore how reps can build the strength of UNISON in a changing industrial relations environment.
· To consider how to use skills and experience to encourage and mentor new UNISON reps.
· To plan more personal development opportunities in the UNISON rep role.

ERA accreditation
Completion of this course will renew your Employment Relations Act (ERA) accreditation for a further 5 years and you will be able to continue to represent members

How will the course work?
The course will be delivered online by a UNISON tutor and co-tutor in live sessions via Zoom or Teams

IT requirements
You will need to be able to access the internet. The course will be delivered via Zoom or Teams and you will be provided with a link to access this. If you are unfamiliar with Zoom or Teams, the co-tutor will be on hand to help. You will also be given a link to access online resources via a ‘Padlet’ digital noticeboard

Facility time
The law states that trade union reps are entitled to reasonable paid time off for education and training and this includes online training. You are advised to talk to your manager/branch about the time off you require as soon as you submit your course application. You will find a Time Off application form on our web page for you and your manager to complete to record what is agreed.

How to apply

Course places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.  Provided the course still has places available, your course place will be confirmed on receipt of your application

Important: Your course place will however be subject to your branch approving your attendance on the course and your offer of a place will be withdrawn if the branch refuse approval
