Professional services staff at the University of Nottingham will strike next week after talks to resolve a long-running dispute broke down, says UNISON.
Hundreds of workers, including security officers, administrators, IT staff and library personnel, will walk out from Monday 22 September until Wednesday 24 September. This will affect services across the University of Nottingham.
Two meetings between UNISON and university bosses have failed to produce any progress, prompting the union to confirm strike action.
UNISON East Midlands head of higher education Elliot Dean said: “These dedicated staff keep the university running day in, day out. Striking is always a last resort, but while workers bear the brunt of cost-cutting, decisions on multi-million-pound projects are being made with little transparency.
Faced with that unfairness, staff been left with no other choice but to walk out.”
